Travel diaries

A journey through writing and photography to discover how each travel experience can be turned into a fascinating diary to describe the world from a unique perspective.

This workshop explores in depth the techniques related to hand crafting and customizing a travel journal, to make it a real artist’s book, a unique and personal rare example, and is recommended to wandering writers, tireless photographers and all those luckies who feel to be both, that will be accompanied by Gaetano De Crecchio, Alessandro Pace e Marco Taddei throughout this amazing creative process.

It is developed in two and a half days and addresses the following subjects:

Topics and authors on photography.
Analysis of techniques of creative writing.
Individual preparation of a travel diary.
Guided tutorial field trip.

The availability of a camera (any camera!) is required; a notebook and a lot of enthusiasm and curiosity are strictly necessary.

Workshop program

day 1 – Friday

12.00 a.m. – 2.30 p.m.: arrival, registration and accommodation;

3.30 – 7.30 p.m.: introduction to the workshop, pictures and different images in travel journals, editing and sequence, examples from authors;

8,30 p.m.: welcome dinner.

day 2 – Saturday

9.00 a.m. – 1.00 p.m.: elements of creative writing and storytelling; writing and photography;

3.00 – 7.00 p.m.: elements of a travel journal, paging and layout, the materials;

day 3 – Sunday

9.00 a.m. – 2.00 p.m.: guided tutorial field trip;

3.00 – 6.30 p.m.: assembling of diaries and final discussion.

The program is to be considered indicative and subject to change if necessary to facilitate or better organize the work of the attendees.

Tuition: euro 300,00

Participants: 4 to 6.
Workshop will be held only if the minimum number of participants will be reached.
If workshop would not take place for this reason, tuitions already paid will be fully refunded.

Tuition includes: use of equipments and tools, digital photo paper, materials for books, welcome dinner and overnight accommodation (two nights).

Tuition does not include: other materials and anything else not expressly mentioned; participants must take along a digital camera.

Accommodation: Tuition includes overnight staying in Sali d’Argento guest house apartments, with double/twin/triple room accommodation. It is anyway possible to manage any specific demand (use as single room) or in other local hotels, guest houses and b&b, according to availability.

Membership: Sali d’Argento membership (20,00 euro) is mandatory and not included in tuition; membership allows taking part to activities and expires on dec 31 of each year.
