LUCE workshop: a free approach to shooting and printing

Matteo Alessandri and Andrea Campesi of LUCE propose a seven days shooting and darkroom workshop.

The idea is that during this workshop anyone has to feel free: participants will be stimulated to get in touch with their instincts and desires in order to reveal and share them. Personal vision will be the key to produce images that will be used to portray reality at large, the territory where we will be working and its inhabitants. Through experience life itself can be documented, along with one’s own story and the story of others. This intimate approach aims to give relevance to men, their language, their bodies, their gestures, their simple or extreme actions, using the landscape as a backdrop, in these strange and pristine places, their apparent routine will find a voice.

Attendants’ works will enrich the gallery and the archive that Sali d’Argento produces through its workshops.

Use of a film camera is required; a personal portfolio from each attendant is warmly welcome.

from 4.30 pm.: arrival, registration and accommodation

day 2 – tuesday

9.00 – 12.30 am.: portfolio lecture

afternoon: introduction to the workshop and slideshow projection by LUCE

day 3 – wednesday

morning: shooting session

afternoon: shooting session, film developing and contact sheets printing

The program is to be considered indicative and subject to change if necessary to facilitate or better organize the work of the attendants.

Workshop fee: euro 500,00

Participants: min. 4 – max. 8

Workshop fee includes: chemicals, use of darkroom and welcome dinner.

Workshop fee does not include: other materials and anything else not expressly mentioned; participants must provide themselves the necessary films and paper sheets; it is warmly suggested to take along almost 25 18×24 sheets e 25 24×30 sheets of resin coated (RC) of fiber based (FB) multigrade photographic paper.

Accommodation: Sali d’Argento provides an 8 beds guest house accommodation in twin/double/triple shared rooms at euro 18,00 price per person, per night. It is anyway possible to manage any specific demand – according to availability – in other local guest houses and b&b.

Membership: Sali d’Argento membership is mandatory (30,00 euro); membership allows taking part to activities and expires at dec 31 of each year. Memberships enrolled from October of each year are automatically extended to dec 31 of the following year.
